Ok so if i was making a music video for the song Disconnected I would use visuals that would match the overall feeling of this song which is very sad and depressing. I would also include shots of the singer playing the piano and singing.
I would split the music video into 3 parts that would inter-loop within the music video these combined would make up the narrative for the music video. The first of these 3 parts would be shots of the singer playing the piano and lip syncing the lyrics of the song, the reason why I would include these shots is they will add character to the video as you will see the person effected by the song. It will also make it feel more normal because it would not make sense if you could hear singing but you did not know who was singing it. These shots would include the artist really getting into the singing whist paying a piano in a blank white room. The reason for this is so that the viewers attention would be fully on the artist.
The second part of the music video would be shots of a young man fighting in the army. This song is about the artists brother going off to war. If i was to make this i would incorporate this within the music video. As the song is not that old i would place the artists brother in on of the more recent wars for example the invasion of Iraq. I would incorporate shots of her brother in a fire fight i would also increase the shutter speed to capture the detail of the scene for example the dirt flying as round hit the floor and buildings this will add a sense of action to the shot. Also seeing as i have a unlimited budget i would be shooting on 35mm film.
The third part of the music video would be of the artist having flash backs to the time when her brother was not a war. This would include shots of them as children at a park of some description and shots of them the day he goes to war this would just continue to tell the viewers what the song is about.
I would also use in terms of technology i would use stedicams and camera cranes also with track and dollies in order to make my shots more creative and appear more professional.

Task 2: Visualization
The footage for the song disconnected is fairly standard of low budget artist made music video. the footage looks like it is filmed using a web-cam and is just of the artist playing the piano. i feel the music video was made with little effort and budget. if i was making the music video i would of included a narrative and varied the shots the music video was boring and changing some shots or locations. i would have told some form of story the song is about her brother who is in the army and is away i would have incorporated this within the music video. i think the footage that would have fitted the music video would of had to reflect the depressing narrative of the song.

Disconnected By Jazz Morley
my initial thoughts of this song was that it was very depressing and quite emotional i think one element that helped this tone get across was that the only instrument besides her singing was the piano. The mood and tone that was conveyed is one of emotion and sadness. The song is very slow to add more feeling to the lyrics. I dont know any songs it sound similar to however i know a lot of bands like the fray use a piano to accompany lyrics during the chorus of some songs and then the other instruments join in. this is somewhat similar as they use the piano to add emotion to the lyrics making the song more powerful. i think the genre is pop or emo (emotional not those wannabes) as it is a very emotional song which i imagine was the intention of the artist. however i did not enjoy listening to this song as it made me feel sort of depressed and unhappy.
Mood In Music Analysis
i have chosen to analyze the importance of being idle by oasis for my mood in music analysis. the music video was director Dawn Shadforth which starred the welsh actor Rhys Ifans and pays homage to the early 1960's kitchen sink drama and is set during the build up for a funeral procession in a northern town with the extravagant undertakers parading the coffin.
The song is quite happy and up beat however the songs meaning is alot darker than the tone makes us expect. this is matched by the visuals of the music video as it is about death and it is about the events of funeral. this is also shown as the character is singing all happy and cheerful however he is being measured for a coffin. so the visuals tell the viewer there is something more to the song than first thought.

Our Presentation Evaluation
For our presentation Max, Jack and myself had to analyze a clip from Jurassic Park 3 where we had to analyze the audio within the clip. The clip we chose is when the group comes across a derelict laboratory where they used to grow the dinosaurs. after exploring it further they are attacked by a velociraptor and a chase begins. the group manages to trap the raptor who then calls for help, and the rest of the pack joins in the chase. We chose this because not only are we big fans of the film but there was alot of both diegetic and non-diegetic sound as well as being an entertaining scene.
During the preparation i did alot of work on the power point as we had to research into the film and list the sounds were heard and categorize them into diegetic and non-diegetic, I think that the strong points of our project was that we finished our powerpoint very quickly and had alot of information on the background of the film. i think one of our weaknesses of the group was a lack of communication from some members of the group and secondly i was not in college when we were doing the presentation as i was at a university open day and there for the group was a person down.
